I’m a – what? I’m a person. A 6ft guy with black hair and poor eyesight. My ancestors originated some 300,000 years ago in Africa, then at some point I was born in China in 1995.

When I was little, I wanted to become an astronaut, then a basketball player, a martial artist, an artist, and now – a filmmaker & writer. I am lucky to have the privilege to dream. I’ve made a few short films, none of them went anywhere to be honest. Now, I’m making a feature documentary about my dad’s kungfu school in China (Shaolin School), and writing a book to accompany it. It’s all on spec.

I studied Fine Art at Oxford, and did a Master’s in Film Studies at Goldsmiths. I didn’t think much about what job I’d get, which probably wasn’t the best idea. I just thought about what I wanted to learn. My goal in life is…to make the world a better place. I can start by telling stories that can impact our thoughts, perspectives, and actions in a positive way.

What else am I? I’m a nerd who likes to read about a lot of things. I like the idea of deep time, astronomic / geologic time because things appear clearer when you step back. I catch rainwater, and have a makeshift worm box. My alternative life would be to live in a rucksack (hammock & tarp / bivvy bag, no tent). If I had live in a box and listen to podcasts for the rest of my life, I’d pick sustainable living, Chinese socialism, democracy, and science fiction.

I also work as a script supervisor.
